Young People: Schools

The Young People's Worker provides essential training and awareness-raising to young people in the community and in schools, as well as to primary and secondary teachers to enable them to respond effectively and appropriately to domestic violence.

The Young People's Worker will work with education professionals both in and out of schools, to ensure that they have adequate understanding of the issues facing young people in relation to gender violence, and are able to provide appropriate, safe support. In 2005, she organised a one day seminar for young women in Hackney entitled 'Sistas', in which young women discussed issues of violence against women, gang and other violence, and criminality.
