Training Services
the nia project Training and Groupwork Team offers training, awareness-raising, and consultancy on all issues related to violence against women to community groups, voluntary sector organisations, statutory sector agencies and local authorities, and the community.
the nia project offers Royal Holloway University accredited training to professionals, for which participants will receive continued Professional Development credits. Accredited courses are:
- Foundation Domestic Violence
- Advanced Domestic Violence
- Working with Rape and Sexual Abuse
- Effective Interventions with young people who have experienced Domestic Violence
- Working with women exiting prostitution
- Violence against Black Minority Ethnic, and Refugee women
The Training and Groupwork Team also facilitates community-based support groups for women who have experienced gender violence, as well as offering a programme for women in prison to enable them to explore their experiences of gender violence and develop strategies to maximise their safety within a structured, supportive environment. To date, the nia project has worked with women in HMP Bullwood and HMP Holloway.
The Training and Groupwork Team can provide training or awareness-raising sessions to your organisation or community, on issues such as:
- Domestic violence
- Sexual violence
- Working with women with substance misuse or mental health issues
- Working with women exiting prostitution
- Equality and diversity in gender violence work
- So-called “honour killing”
- Working with children and young people
- The effects of domestic violence on children
- Practical training on working with women and children who have experienced gender violence
- Violence against BMER women
- Working with women with no recourse to public funds
- Homophobic violence and domestic violence in LGBT communities
- Violence against women and women’s health
- Housing issues
- Violence against women and the law
We can also carry out consultancy work on developing and reviewing internal policies and procedures for organisations and companies.
