the nia project>contact>advice line
The Information and Referral line offers immediate over-the-telephone advice and support on matters relating to domestic violence including housing, legal and children's issues, reporting to the police, and where to get support and safe accommodation. Appropriate advice can also be given around other forms of violence against women such as sexual violence. Trained advisors are able to provide information and advice to help women make informed decisions.
The advisors will, through a series of questions, establish the woman's immediate needs, as well as those of her children, and may refer her to one of the nia project services, or, where appropriate, to an external agency. The advisors can also help secure refuge accommodation.
the nia project Information and Referral Line operates as follows:
10am to 1pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday
1pm to 4pm Tuesday, Thursday
1pm to 4pm Wednesday for Turkish speaking women only
As the Information and Referral Line responds to a large number of calls every day with a small number of staff and volunteers, please be patient when using this service. If the line is busy when you call, please leave a safe contact number and an advisor will call you back as soon as she is able to.
